What is Beouifi.org ?
Creating a Wi-fi network is the most efficient way to share an Internet access among several users, but setting up a fully functional hotspot usually requires a considerable amount of time, even for a highly skilled person.
Beouifi.org is an attempt from a team of students to provide any Internet connection owner with a free and light collection of tools, Wirox. Among other features, Wirox is a wireless lan access controller, an appliance also known as a captive portal. Its specificity is to work along with a backoffice hosted in our facilities, which discharge the hotspot owner of the major part of the administration workload.
It means that using our solution, anyone is capable of setting up a safe and secured wifi hotspot within a few minutes. There is even no need for additional hardware.
The safest way to open your Internet access
Security matters : as any hotspot is protected by a captive portal, it is easy, for our services and in case of legal request, to track back any user who makes an illegal use of the Internet access. On the other hand, as the authentication process is handled by our servers, the end-users will not have to communicate their private data to any hotspot owner, which ensures the same level of protection of private life as ISP's.
A highly flexible way to share wifi
Whatever is your hardware, there is a configuration that fits with it.
- You can use Beouifi.org along with your Wifi card, using an ad-hoc network.
- You can take advantage of your double-SSID capable Wifi router to create your hotspot
- Of course, you can also rely on more traditional items such as access points
There is no need for any additional hardware to get started today. As our solution is scalable and if you need it, there will be no difficulties to add specific devices to handle more traffic.
Wifi for newbies and experts
Beouifi.org software runs on any computer with MS Windows installed. It will self configure itself and expose its configuration in the Manager, a web interface integrated within this website.
There is no need for some special knowledge : anyone can set up his own hotspot within a few minutes. The most curious users will find extra information on the wiki, as advanced users already share their exotic settings in the wiki pages.
Advanced features includes the possibility to customize the captive portal page. This is easily achieved through the Manager too, and gives you the opportunity to tell your customers about your business' latest news, for instance.
Finally, no boring administration tasks are required, as Beouifi.org users will log in through the captive portal directly on our servers. Thus, we archive all the connexion information required by the law in our facilities and there is no need for the final user to worry about legal issues.
Who's Beouifi.org ?
Beouifi.org web service has been designed by William Le Ferrand. Student at Ecole Polytechnique, in France, William has been highly interested in networking issues for years.
